ROLE OF CHRISTIANS IN GOVERNMENT

Matthew 5:13-14 (CJB)

3 “You are salt for the Land. But if salt becomes tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longerTHE good for anything except being thrown out for people to trample on.14 “You are light for the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.” 

As Christians we must become who Christ said we are to the world in every area of society. We, as the church body, need to make an impact in our sphere of influence. Charles Finney, once a leader of the Second Great Awakening in the United States once quoted: “If Satan rule the halls of legislation, the pulpit is responsible for it.” 

As Christians we all have our own pulpits, our own sphere of influence. It may be our homes, our work places, our schools and most importantly our government. These are the 7 pillars where we can choose to make a difference: religion, family, education, business, arts and entertainment, media and government. President Ronald Reagan once stated:”Freedom is not free...it is never more than one generation away from extinction.” We must fight to protect it by getting ourselves involved in political issues which is essentially moral issues that may affect us all.

THE HEIRLOOM OF HATE

The Heirloom of Hate

"Denounce hatred of any kind; promote love at all times.” This is my new mantra. But it is hard to show love in the face of evil. Christ said, in His Word, that we are to love even our enemies. Our true enemy is not people who attack us or denigrate us, no, our true enemy is the devil, called Satan. He is the puppet master and those who succumb to him are his puppets. 

Some people feel justified in their own erroneous beliefs perpetrated by their families and handed down as some “precious” heirloom. The only thing is, it is a corrupted, and evil heirloom made of brass, not worthy of anything. It is ugly, distorted and misshapen and has gathered dross over the centuries and years. 

We need to throw it away; discard and destroy these terrible heirlooms that sit on shelves of prominence in our lives. Because it is destructive and only bring desolation. This week we saw people acting badly toward other people, and thank God for smartphones that revealed these ugly acts. 

Even though they knew they we being documented they did not care. Some people have made it their mission to hate no matter what. Only God can change a man’s heart. Only God could change the narrative and reveal what’s in the dark.

WHOM DO MEN SAY THAT I AM?

Whom do men say that I Am? (Matthew 16:15-17)

Jesus had asked His disciples this questions centuries before and today He is still asking our generation: “But whom do men say that I AM?” Centuries before, Simon Peter, one of His disciples appropriately answered, “You are Christ, the Son of the Living God.” Jesus response to Peter’s answer was, “blessed are you Simon-Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but MY Father who is in heaven. 

(Strong’s denotes ‘flesh as of human origin or empowerment; man’s living body compounded of flesh and blood.’) Simon did not confer with flesh and blood but believed with all his heart, that Jesus Christ was the Son of God. The Word of God declared: He who believes and is baptized will be saved, but he who does not believe will be condemned. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

 Today, I ask, whom do men say the Son of God is? In Matthew 7:21 we are reminded “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

Today Pastor Jason gave us some important guidelines about the family. The topic of his sermon was: ”As for me and my house we would serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:14-15 ESV) We are to serve the Lord only, not someone else or even ourselves. And we must choose godly principles as the foundation of our home because we build on the foundation of Jesus Christ. The first thing we must remember is to Honor God’s Design For The Family (Matthew 3-6 NLT)...“that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’[a] 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’[b]? 6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh...God designed marriage between one man and one woman. Our culture today have distanced themselves from this foundational truth to appease their flesh. But marriage is a covenant between one man and one woman and with God.

Another foundational truth for the family, “Talk About The Things Of God.” In the book of (Deuteronomy 6:6-7 NLT) it gave us some guidelines to follow for our own family: “(6) And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. (7) Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.” The Word of God, the Bible, is our map or GPS for the route our family must follow to live a blessed life here on earth. We can have family worship, Bible studies, pray together, talk about the godly principles set by god for us to follow, and be a light to the world. We are honor God in the way we conduct ourselves and how we relate to one another. As we follow these guidelines and there will be a canopy of protection over our family knowing that God is watching over us with all diligence.

The final way to honor God’s design for the family: Live What We Are Talking About. Isaiah 29:13 NIV stated:

“(13) The Lord says: “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught.[a]” The most important commandment is to love God with all of our heart, soul and with all our mind. Our actions always affect other people especially those in our family. Our children are like sponges and they soak up and absorb our words, actions and the tone we set in the atmosphere of our homes. We must be an honest example to our family and model after Christ so we can build a strong foundation. God knows we are not perfect but He will guide us through His Holy Spirit on the right path. The culture of our home will determine our children’s future and our future. Are we building our home on the rock or are we build our home on sinking sand?

We live in a climate where the rich or the powerful seem to be above the law and where the victims are further victimized by reprisals of hatred from those who hate our country and our legal system of justice. It discriminates against those who cannot really receive justice or fairness because of who they are or what they represent. There is an evil wind blowing across our country and this wind brings an insidious stench of bias and double standards and a get out of jail free card by the offenders and perpetrators. Joe Biden is one such man and he is not what he purports to be. The liberal media and Hollywood have remained silence during Ms. Tara Reade's allegations. What are we going to do about this and are we going to put up with this nonsense? We may not get the justice we desire or ought to be but God sees the injustice and none will be spared who violates this principle.

TRANSHUMANISM

TRANSHUMANISM-is defined as the belief or theory that the human race can evolve beyond its current physical and mental limitations, especially by means of science and technology. This term was coined by the evolutionary biologist and eugenicist Julian Huxley in 1927. He believed that humans can transcend itself. His father, Thomas Henry Huxley was a friend and supporter of Charles Darwin and a proponent of evolution.

 In 1913 Julian Huxley had a nervous breakdown and he suffered from severe manic depression and later reported having bipolar disorder. He told his wife, Bailot, later he wanted an open marriage and did not believe in marriage in the conventional term. Huxley was an atheist and he believed 'natural selection was the main driving force of evolution.' He believed there was no supernatural realm and believed God was a figment of man's imagination.

 Like Satan who attempted to elevate himself above God so has mankind from the inception of time. Nothing is new under the sun and this too will be destroyed. Nothing a created being can arise above its Creator. Mankind will try with all its might but will fail eventually with catastrophic consequences.

Transhumanism is not of God but a deluded, distorted and counterfeit technological movement by mad scientists. It is a perversion and distraction from the Creator to the created. People who do not believe in God as their Creator will be influenced by the suggestions of mankind's and God's enemy-the Accuser.

 Evolution is not of God but a perverted ideololgy by mankind to try to understand God's Creation, and failing miserably by mere ramblings of illogical and disconnected humans. God created mankind perfect but when sin entered our realm by the enemy then we became fallen beings. The only way mankind can become superior or immortal is through JESUS CHRIST. When we accept Him as our Lord and Savior then we become SUPERNATURALHUMANS.

 There is no other way under the sun to become anything greater than CHILDREN OF GOD. Mankind has dappled with many kinds of disturbing human failed experiments. There are scientists, technologists and philosophers with the Frankenstein complex. These perverted ideologies can be terrifying and destructive to mankind and those who are seduced by these evil forces. GOD DOES NOT MAKE MISTAKES ONLY MANKIND DOES.

TIME FOR REFLECTION IN THE MIDST OF COVID-19

ISOLATION-for some can be terrifying and yet some welcome this time of separation as a time of solitude. While this group of people may find a plethora of things to do, or complete or resuscitate forgotten dreams and visions; some are using this time to reconnect with GOD. Let it be clear, Covid-19 did not come from God.

 Satan is mankind's accuser and it is he who brings the curse of death, sickness, disease and the feelings of isolation and depression and fear. Since we live in a fallen world we're held prey or bound by the consequences of sin. For those of us who have 'sin' disease, the best cure or remedy or anti-viral is REPENTENCE.

 Let us use this time to repent and to give GOD the oppportunity to heal our broken hearts; to recover those who are blinded spiritually; set at liberty those who are in a prison of sin and shame, and those who are bruised, worn out and weary living a duplicitous life. God wants us whole, healed and delivered in every area of our lives. His hands are always outstretched toward those of us who are ready to surrender their lives to Him.

 Let us ask Him for His fogiveness and let us allow Him to soothe our weary souls and aching hearts.
